Rev. Fr. Chris Aubuchon, the first priest from St. George parish in Hermann to be ordained a priest in 33 years, received his first assignment in the Jefferson City diocese this weekend, shortly after his ordination.
Fr. Aubuchon was appointed associate pastor of Cathedral of St. Joseph parish in Jefferson City, effective July 1. He was ordained on Saturday, June 7, at that church by Bishop John R. Gaydos in an 11 a.m. Mass.
Father Bill Debo, pastor of St. George parish in Hermann and Church of the Risen Savior parish in Rhineland, took part in Fr. Aubuchon’s Ordination Mass.
Fr. Aubuchon celebrated his first Mass at St. George Catholic Church–his home parish–on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Last year on June 8, he was ordained a transitional deacon and then completed his study for the priesthood at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis.
In the past year, he had been assisting in the central Missouri parishes of St. George in Linn and Our Lady Help of Christians in Frankenstein.
Fr. Aubuchon is the first priest from St. George parish to be ordained a priest since 1981, when Rev. Edmund Mundwiller was ordained a Franciscan priest.
Fr. Aubuchon attended St. George School through the eighth grade, then graduated from Hermann High School.
He is the son of Roger and Darlene Aubuchon of Hermann.
