Students attend GCHS Summer Institute in Hermann
Students have been attending Summer Institute classes in Hermann and Owensville. On Wednesday and Thursday, June 18 and 18, a program called “Mastodons in Missouri” was held at the Historical Society’s Archives & Records Center Community Room in Hermann. Students made dioramas featuring scenes of mastodons and other animals that lived at that time. Sandy Nolan, a board member of the Gasconade County Historical Society, is conducting these programs in Hermann and Owensville for the fourth summer. Classes will be held in Hermann on July 16 and 17 from 10 a.m. until noon, and is called, “Native Americans Strike-a-Light Bags.” The final class in Hermann, on the Gasconade River Bridge Disaster, will be Thursday, July 24.
