Mud Run/Obstacle Course to Benefit Special Olympics MO

(Jefferson City)  The 1st Annual Battle for the Brave event will take place August 23. Join us at Kearse’s Quarry, home of the Fugitive Run, Mud Obstacle Course, (located in Phelps County, MO, six miles South of Rolla on Highway 72 at County Road 5285 & 5280 intersection) for the Battle for the Brave! You’ll battle your way through this nationally recognized course of 100 muddy obstacles in the Gold course. Or choose the Silver course of 50 obstacles (half the obstacles, all the mud!). Either way, you’ll be supporting more than 2,600 Special Olympics athletes in the Central Area. Our goal is to have 500 participants for this first-year event.

This event is hosted by the Rolla Police Department and open to anyone 13 years of age or older; all participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Registering for this event is easy, just go to The registration fee for the Gold Course (100 obstacles) is $65 and for the Silver Course (50 obstacles) is $55. Teams of five or more can receive a $5 discount per person. Simply email Crystal Schuster at before you register to get the discount code. Registration prices will increase by $20 on Aug. 17. Online registration will close at noon on Aug. 22.

The day of the event, registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the course will open at 10 a.m. Each participant will receive an event t-shirt, and a prize will be given to the top fundraiser. Parking is $10 per car and spectators are encouraged to attend and enjoy a day at the beautiful beach and swim in the quarry while you cheer on your Battle participant.
