From the Mayor’s Desk
Last week the Board of Aldermen approved a resolution to retain the law firm of Curtis, Heinz, Garrett & O’Keefe P.C. to represent the City of Hermann in our efforts to vacate the agreement for electricity we have with MoPep. The vote was three ayes and zero nays. Alderman Justin Alfermann was unable to attend that meeting but did contact the Mayor via email voicing his support for this resolution. He further requested that his letter of support be read by the Mayor at this BOA meeting. He wanted to be sure that his support was duly noted and the citizens would be aware of that support.
Ron Kraettli, representing HRED (Hermann Regional Economic Development) requested time to address the BOA and citizens. The purpose of this request was to read a resolution from HRED supporting the City actions in regard to electric rates in Hermann. HRED has long known and acknowledged that the debacle we are in on electricity is killing our growth and economic development. Their tangible support as evidenced by this resolution is greatly appreciated. HRED and especially the Board of Directors is comprised of some very talented leaders from the Hermann area. Their support in this matter goes a long way to validate the leadership evidenced by the Board of Aldermen in making the tough decisions necessary to fix electric in Hermann.
