Although the local ballot featured only one contested race for a countywide office, Gasconade County polling places were busier last week than those statewide.

Local voters turned out at a 35.5-percent rate, compared to a statewide turnout of about 25 percent for the primary elections.

In the only countywide race, Michael Feagan of Owensville captured the Treasurer’s Office by winning the 5-way GOP primary race Tuesday. His 1,086 votes accounted for 35.9 percent of the votes cast for the office.

The four others — all from Hermann — appeareed to split their community’s votes, handing the nomination to Feagan.
