Gasconade County voters again reject proposed use tax
Gasconade County voters Tuesday rejected — again — a proposed use tax that would have been applied to purchases made via the Internet.
During last week’s primary election balloting, county voters solidly turned down the proposal, voting 1,400 in favor to 2,082 against.
Gasconade County’s effort was among the latest by local governments to seek approval of a use tax, a method of trying to collect revenue on purchases made at places other than brick-and-mortar retailers.
