Regional drug task force makes 70-plus arrests in 2nd Quarter
More than 130 drug-related charges were issued to nearly 80 people arrested during the 2nd Quarter of this year, according to officials of the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group (LANEG).
Gasconade County is one of the six counties that are members of LANEG. Other county members include Camden, Crawford, Laclede, Maries and Osage.
The task force also serves the cities of Lebanon, Osage Beach, Camdenton, Cuba, Belle, Steelville and Bourbon.
LANEG focses its efforts on drug enforcement by conducting both covert and overt narcotics investigations within the local governments they serve.
Here are the drugs the task force seized during April, May and June:
• Methamphetamine – 54 grams.
• Heroin – 1 gram.
• Marijuana – 676 grams.
• Marijuana plants – 10.
• Ecstacy/MDMA – 12 grams.
• Prescription drugs/pills – 93 units.
• Pseudoephedrine – 123 grams.
According to LANEG officials, the group during the three-month period disassembled 16 meth labs and dump sites, served 19 search warrants, conducted 46 consent searches and arrested 79 people, compiling a total of 133 drug-related charges.
The area within LANEG’s boundaries contain about 142,000 residents. The group empoyes five task force officers and its work is coordinated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which assigns two troopers to the task force.
