Sunday’s fund-raising event in the Upper City Park for the City Cemetery restoration project produced over $11,500, one of the most successful summer fund raisers ever by the Hermann Brush & Palette Club.
Only one time in the nearly four years the club has held its summer ice cream social and auction for the cemetery has that number been topped.
This was a gratifying number for the small Hermann non-profit organization that is trying to raise $30,000 by Sept. 1 to match a $30,000 pledge from an anonymous donor.
“So many people have come forward to support this project, and we are extremely grateful,” said Lois Puchta, president of the Brush & Palette Club.
