First-time donors push Hermann blood drive past goal
Call them the Magnificent Seven.
Thanks to the seven first-time donors, the most recent American Red Cross blood drive exceeded its goal.
Sponsored by Hermann Area District Hospital and St. George Home and School, the drive held in the St. George gymnasium had a goal of 55 points. It collected 57 units — each having the potential of saving three lives.
Each unit of blood collected can be separated into red cells, platelets and plasma.
Overall, the 57 units collected could help save a total of 171 lives.
