On Friday, May 25, over 100 golfers will tee off at the 7th annual Erik Heldt Memorial Golf Tournament at County Lake Golf Club in Warrenton.

The three-person scramble still has openings for this event, which is a shotgun start 11:30 a.m. Entry fee is $400 per team. Corporate sponsorship, which includes one three-person team, is $500, and you can sponsor a hole for $100. Golfers can sign-in at 10:30 a.m.

There is a complimentary lunch before tee-off, and golf prizes for all players. Cash prizes will be awarded for two flights. There’s a silent auction throughout the day, and the event will end with a steak dinner at Country Lake Golf Club.

There’s also prizes for a hole-in-one.

Non-golfing friends are invited to attend the post-tournament steak dinner for $20. For tournament information contact Mark Witthaus at (314) 210-7651, or Mike Winkelmann at (636) 980-6803.

Golfers can register their team on-line, pay in advance or simply make a donation the memorial golf scholarship fund at this website: www.erikheldtgolf.com.

In the past six years, 56 students from Hermann High School have been awarded $112,000 with the community support and money raised from this tournament. There were eight $2,000 scholarships awarded to Hermann High seniors.

The purpose of this tournament is to celebrate the life of Marine Lance Cpl. Erik R. Heldt, a Hermann High graduate who was killed in Iraq fighting the war on terror.
