Historic Hermann, Inc. and St. George Catholic Church were  recipients of awards presented at the Missouri Governor’s Conference on Tourism, held in Kansas City, Sept. 11-13.
The Missouri Tourism Commission and Missouri Division of Tourism honored tourism industry partners from across the Show-Me State during an awards dinner.
Historic Hermann Inc., was the recipient of the Spotlight Award for its efforts promoting tourism in many forms, including preserving an area’s heritage and historic treasures, and making those treasures an integral part of the community’s overall tourism efforts.
The Pathfinder Award went to St. George Catholic Church for the Holiday Rectory Tours, a positive addition to “Christmastime in Hermann” activities. Father William Debo and a score of volunteers contributed more than 1,400 hours decorating the Rectory for Christmas crowds, thus increasing the holiday tourism traffic for the city of Hermann.
It is unusual for a community to win two awards in one year. Hermann has also had previous winners at the conference on tourism.
