With construction ready to begin this fall, the Messmer and Eitmann Foundation has selected Grotewiel Construction, Inc. of Rhineland as the general contractor for the new non-profit senior citizens center in Gasconade County.
“We are excited about entering the construction phase and pleased to announce the selection of Grotewiel Construction as the general contractor,” said Robert Kirchhofer, president of the Messmer and Eitmann Foundation Board of Directors and former First Bank executive. “Mike Grotewiel and his team have an excellent reputation and track record and we look forward to working with them.”
Weather permitting, Kirchhofer said construction on the new senior center should begin within the next six weeks with a completion date targeted for 2013.
Funded by a multi-million dollar gift from Clara Eitmann Messmer and designed to assist a growing aging population in Gasconade County, the 16,000-square-foot facility will feature dining areas. Hermann Area District Hospital will provide exercise programs with additional services and amenities planned in the future.
“Like other areas of the country, the senior citizen population is growing in Gasconade County with the aging of the Baby Boomer generation,” said Kirchhofer. “This center will help meet the growing needs of our seniors.”
