Uthlaut places second in Hermann Invitational cross country meet

One by one, Grant Uthlaut picked off the runners ahead of him until he moved near the front of the pack in last Tuesday’s Hermann Invitational Cross Country Meet.
The Hermann freshman, who has been the Bearcats’ top varsity finisher all fall, took second place in the meet at Loutre Shore Country Club. His time of 17:36.17 was one of his best all season.
Clay Nolte, a junior from Chamois who has been a Class 1 state qualifier the past two seasons, was the meet medalist. He finished the 5K run in 17:30.32.
Hermann’s second runner was another freshman, Trevor Hartman. His time of 19:40.52 put him in 27th place out of 57 runners. Andrew Riddell of the Bearcats placed 38th in 20:16.36. Senior Jon Baumstark was 41st and Dalton Gillig, a sophomore, was 42nd.
