When Moore Gear Mfg. Co. moved into Hermann’s Industrial Park 25 years ago, the intent was that the new industry would create between 12-15 new jobs. Today there are 65 employees working on three shifts, and the company has put out the “hiring” sign. That’s good news in an economy that has had little to crow about.
Last Tuesday, they held a 25-year celebration at the plant, located along Highway 100, handed out awards to employees and made donations to local schools and the hospital in the amount of $5,000. Each of the three public school buildings, St. George Catholic School and the Hermann Area District Hospital were presented $1,000.
With millions of dollars of machinery humming in the background, company owner Bill Haag, Sr. said it’s apparent the time has come for another expansion.
