Hermann’s Lady Bearcats won their 28th district championship in Coach Linda Lampkin’s 33 seasons as head coach last Tuesday, defeating Dixon in the championship after eliminating Cuba in the semifinals.
Hermann, with Kali Stiers at the serving line, started the title match with seven straight points and Dixon never recovered. The Lady Bulldogs put up a soft block against Hermann’s heavy hitters, and found themselves playing defense most of the evening.
Outside hitter Jamie Gleeson, a 5-10 junior, had a huge game for the Lady Bearcats, knocking down 12 kills in 21 swings and serving eight points. She also had a hand in four blocks.
