After 61 years of hosting a fine art show and later an arts and crafts festival, The Brush & Palette Club is passing the gavel on this long-standing Hermann tradition. The annual fall Arts & Crafts Festival, held every year on the second full weekend of October, will in 2013 no longer be a Brush & Palette Club project. Instead it will be a project of the Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce.
The festival has evolved through the past six decades from a purely fine art exhibition first staged on the fence around the German School. The event then moved to the parkway south of the old firehouse and city hall, then to the Upper City Park, before finding a home at the former Hermann Middle School, and after several years, adding the Hermann Elementary School  to that venue. Since 2007 the festival has been at the Hermann Middle School on Highway 100 West.
The constant through those six decades has been The Brush & Palette Club’s mission to support the arts and to preserve the German heritage and culture of the Hermann area.
