Austin Scott Thurman, 24, of Hermann, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Hermann on December 31, 1987, a son of Randy and Rena (Begeman) Thurman.
Austin graduated from Hermann High School in 2006. He then attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, where he graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
He was employed at the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center for the Missouri Department of Corrections as a corrections officer.
He was a member of the Hermann Eagles and Rhineland American Legion Post 147. His hobbies were playing washers, softball, deer hunting and tinkering with cars.
Austin is survived by his parents Randy and Rena Thurman of Hermann; two brothers, Tyler Thurman and wife, Kelly, and Cody Thurman of Hermann; his grandparents, Harold and Rose Thurman of New Florence and Joe Begeman and wife, Katie Martin, of New Florence; by nieces Elissa Thurman and Taya Thurman; and two nephews, Brody and Parker Thurman, all of Hermann; also by many aunts, uncles, cousins and lots of friends who all loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Linda Lea “Tootie” Beabout Begeman.
Visitation was Friday, Nov. 2, at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann, where funeral services followed at 7 p.m., with Billy Brison officiating.

Carl H. Graue, 81, of Big Spring, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 at the Hermann Area District Hospital
He was born in New Florence on Nov. 1, 1931, the son of the late Charles Fred and Permelia Louise (nee Kasmann) Graue.
He was the husband of Martha Ann (nee Schmidt) Graue. They were married June 9, 1956 at New Florence. Martha passed away Sept. 18, 2012.
Carl is survived by two daughters Carla Engemann and husband Denis, Darla Schutt and husband Darren both of Hermann, by two sons Greg Graue and wife Karen of Hermann, Doug Graue and wife Carol of Big Spring. He is also survived by four sisters-in-law Darlene Gerken of New Florence, Doris Graue and husband Norman (Jim) of Montgomery City, Norma Jean Stiegman of Big Spring, and Emma Schmidt of Hermann, by three brothers-in-law Marion Schmidt of St. Charles, Robert Schmidt and wife Joyce of Big Spring, and Kenneth Schmidt and wife Barbara of Big Spring, by eight grandchildren, Daniel Engemann and wife Amanda, Lindsey Peterson and husband Eric, Derek and Jacob Graue, Mark Engemann and wife Chelsea, Shane Graue, Shelby and Erika Schutt and two great-grandchildren Blake Engemann and Flynn Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by a sister Evelyn Graue, by three sisters-in-law Mildred Lockhouse, Nelda Schmidt, and Catherine Schmidt, by five brothers-in-laws John Schmidt, Marvin Schmidt, Dave Lockhouse, Orvy Gerken, Monte Stiegman, and a granddaughter Michelle Engemann.
Carl and Martha lived northwest of Big Spring, Missouri. There they raised their family and he farmed his whole life raising cattle, hogs, and row crops. Carl was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ at High Hill. He was one of the founding members of the Big Spring Fire Department and served as treasurer for many years. He was a past member of the Montgomery County Fair Board and was president of the St. James Cemetery Association of Big Spring for many years.
A funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 5, at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
Burial was at St. James Cemetery, Big Spring, Memorials may be given to the Hermann Area District Hospital or the St. James Cemetery.

Irene H. Apprill, 97, of Hermann passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Washington.
Mrs. Apprill was born in Hermann on October 20, 1915, the daughter of the late Charles and Amalia (Fricke) Dufner.
She was the widow of Bernard “Barney” Apprill. They were married October 28, 1939 at St. George Church, Hermann. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1992.
Irene was a member of St. George Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality. She was a homemaker and also worked for Kellwood Manufacturing in New Haven and Handi-Pac in Hermann. She enjoyed cooking and playing bingo off of Warrenton Radio and prayer time. She also enjoyed the outdoors especially gardening and tending to her flowers.
She is survived by a son Kenneth Apprill and friend, Diane Schatte, of Washington; two daughters, Carol Meyer and husband, Lloyd, of New Haven, and Marilyn Seifert and husband Russell of Hermann; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Charles and Theodore Dufner; and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Apprill.
Funeral services were held at St. George Church in Hermann, at on Friday, November 2, with Father Bill Debo officiating.
Burial was at St. George Cemetery, Hermann.
Memorials may be given to St. George Catholic Church or Masses, c/o Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
