Hermann’s Witthaus is first team all-state; Gleeson is second team

Abby Witthaus of Hermann was selected first team all-state by the Missouri Volleyball Coaches Association, it was announced last week.
Jamie Gleeson of the Lady Bearcats was named to the second team and senior Natalie Witte was on the honorable mention list.
Witthaus, a senior, was a two-year setter for Hermann and was selected the Player of the Year in the Four Rivers Conference this year. She led the Lady Bearcats in assists, aces, was second on the team in serving points, and was third on the team in digs. She totaled 799 assists and averaged nearly 10 per game. She served had 53 ace serves in 82 games and served 218 points.
Gleeson, 5-10 junior middle blocker, led the Lady Bearcats in kills with 319, and had 68 total blocks. Her kill percentage was 39.4 percent.
In addition to being Hermann’s top hitter, Gleeson had 211 digs and was second on the team in serve receptions Her 46 ace serves was also second on the team.
Witte, an outside hitter, recorded 239 kills this season, second behind Gleeson, and had 34 total blocks.
Hermann finished the season with a record of 25-10-1.
