The public is invited to take part in Hermann’s annual Lantern Parade this Saturday evening starting at 6 o’clock at the amphitheatre.
The Hermann Girl Scouts are organizing the event, with sponsorship from the Hermann Arts Council.
In case of bad weather this year, the event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Children and adults may bring their own homemade lanterns or use lanterns donated by the Girl Scouts.
The walk will leave the amphitheatre and will proceed down Gutenberg Street to First Street, then First to Schiller, taking Fourth Street to Market Street, then returning to the amphitheater via Fifth Street.
Santa will be visiting with the children at the amphitheatre stage.
Smores will be roasted on the south side of the amphitheater grounds, and hot cocoa will be served from the concession stand.
There will be a drawing for a free Gingerbread house, donated by Dea Ludlow, and there will be a drawing for a live Christmas tree, donated by Pea Ridge Forest Tree Farm.
The Hermann Boy Scouts will be manning the fire rings.
There will also be a judging for the homemade lanterns, with prizes donated by various community businesses.
Last year’s parade was canceled due to inclement weather. It was believed to be the first time the event has been canceled.
