The Hermann DECA chapter held the 13th annual Hermann DECA Chapter Veteran’s Day Breakfast and Assembly on Friday, Nov. 9.
Shuttle buses ran early that morning, taking veterans and guest to and from the Hermann High School for the event.
Members of the DECA chapter served breakfast to all that attended. Breakfast was prepared by OOPA! Food Service.
Then DECA officers and students Emily Stuart, Joey Schebaum, Megan LaBoube and Dori Levin spoke to the veterans in a short program in the HHS commons before they assembled in the gymnasium for the program.
DECA officers Amanda Creacy, Kali Stiers, Emily Thompson and Sara Fahrenholtz spoke during the assembly, giving a warm welcome to guest speakers Corp. Joseph Gillig, USMC, and M/Sgt. Adrain Dudley. Gillig, a former high school student, spoke of what an honor it was to be there.
Dudley, who is stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, was the main speaker for this year’s event.
The Hermann High School Kammerchor and band performed during the ceremony. Kammerchor member Katie Kernen sang two solos for the assembly, and band student Marvin Lewis played Taps.
The Hermann VFW color guard presented the colors in the gymnasium.
This year’s Wall of Honor was a success one again, honoring many veterans and raising $174 for Missouri Area Veterans.
