The good news for Hermann city employees, the deductions out of their paychecks for health care will remain the same for the next year.
The city’s health care committee decided to stay with Coventry, its current health care provider for the upcoming year.
A representative from Schroepfer Bauer Insurance of Washington gave the city’s board of aldermen a report on the health care situation.
Hermann’s health care committee and its insurance company shopped for proposals, and found that Coventry’s 3 percent increase was minimal when compared to other plans.
“We were expecting a lot worse,” said Frank Tennant, Hermann’s city administrator.
Doug Hendricks, who represents Schroepker Bauer Insurance, said he studied plans from Anthem and United Health Care, and the committee didn’t find any feasible options for Hermann’s health package.
Hendricks also told the board Monday that health care reform could change things next year. “Looking down the road to health care reform, we don’t know what will happen in the future,” he said. “It probably won’t be as easy next year as it was this time.”
Hermann will also stay with Delta Dental for coverage. It offered the best and most economical plan.
