The Hermann Bearcats couldn’t keep Blair Oaks off the backboards and from going to the free throw line, losing to the Falcons, 67-57, last Tuesday at Hermann.
Jon Baumstark’s 15 points and 12 rebound weren’t enough to carry the Bearcats, who fell behind by 17 points in the fourth quarter before closing the deficit to six.
It was a game where players repeatedly marched the foul line, as 53 free throws were shot. The Falcons made 25 out of 34 attempts while Hermann attempted 19 foul shots and hit 16 of them.
Hermann scored just five points in the third quarter, and Blair Oaks took a 45-28 lead into the final 8-minute period.
The Bearcats got to within seven points as Craig Winkelmann, Matt Hug and Baumstark all made 3s in fourth-quarter run.
