Mrs. Grannemann saw lots of changes as city clerk; retires after 38 years

So much has changed since Dolores Grannemann came to work for the city of Hermann 38 years ago, but she fondly remembers when the city council meetings were held in a room at the historic German School.
One old practice at those meetings, no longer followed today, was the reading of an ordinance.
“They would read the whole ordinance,” she said. “If they were long, Dennis Barks (then city attorney) would start out reading them, and then I would read part of them.”
Mrs. Grannemann retired on Dec. 31 as Hermann’s city clerk, a position she held since December 1976.
