Hermann’s girls used big second and third quarters last Thursday night to blow past Versailles, 77-50, in a non-conference basketball game at Hermann. It was the first game of a girl-boy doubleheader.
Versailles was added to Hermann’s schedule when Warrenton dropped the Lady Bearcats late in the summer.
Hermann scored 27 points in the second quarter to take a 44-22 halftime lead, then tacked on 24 points in the third quarter and saw their lead balloon to 31 points heading into the final quarter.
Jamie Gleeson, 5-10 junior, paced Hermann (9-1) with 18 points and also pulled down 11 rebounds.
Junior point guard Karrine Lane once again had a fine all-around game for the Lady Bearcats. She scored 15 points, dished out nine assists, grabbed eight rebounds and had eight steals. She made 7 out of 8 shots from the field.
Sophomore Tesla Ruediger chipped in 13 points and five assists, while junior Kirsten Leimkuehler added 10 points and junior Kali Stiers nine. Makaley Schneider, a sophomore, scored eights points and junior Hayley Stiers grabbed seven rebounds and scored four points, both coming off the bench to contribute to the win.
The final quarter was played with a running clock after Hermann’s lead grew to 30-plus points after three periods.
