The Gasconade County R-1 Board of Directors received retirement letters from three district teachers at the regular monthly meeting in December.
Retiring at the end of this year are John Reynolds, Karen Miller and Sharon Berlener.
Reynolds has been the industrial arts teacher at Hermann High School. A native of Big Spring, he came to the Hermann school district as teacher 21 years ago.
Karen Miller teaches first grade at the Hermann Elementary School. She was hired into the district in 1992.
Sharon Berlener started at the Hermann Middle School as a math teacher in 1994. She grew up in this area and attended local schools.
The board accepted the three letters of resignation with regret, and thanked them for their years of service.
Reynolds, Miller and Berlener join Mark Brooks as school district educators who will retire at the end of this school year.

Brooks, who is the curriculum director who is also in charge of the district’s bus transportation, has been in the district for nearly 30 years. He has been a teacher and principal, and was the last head teacher at the Berger Fifth Grade Center before it was closed. He then was transferred to the middle school.
Brooks also served as an assistant football coach early in his teaching career here.
