Former Hermann Ward 2 alderman Dan Wilson filed for mayor Tuesday morning, Jan. 8, the second candidate to file for mayor of Hermann.
The three seats open on the Hermann city council had three candidates who filed on the first day. Ward 1 alderman Ron Van Booven filed for mayor, Bruce Cox filed for his Ward 1 board of alderman seat and Brian Chorley re-filed as Ward 2 alderman.
Larry Miskel’s seat as mayor opened up when he won the August and November elections for Gasconade County northern district commissioner. He resigned in late December, thus creating an opening. The new mayor will serve a one-year term to fill out Miskel’s term.
Mike Pratte, whose term expires in April, and Dustin Kallmeyer, a newcomer, have filed for the two seats on the Gasconade County R-1 school board. The term of Todd Witthaus also ends in April, but he has not yet filed. If no more than two candidates file, no school board election will be necessary according to state statutes. That will save the district several thousand dollars.
The deadline to file for Hermann city offices and for positions on the Gasconade County R-1 District’s Board of Education is Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 5 p.m. Filing for school board is at the R-1 district’s administration building, and filing for Hermann city offices is at city hall in the Lloyd Building at 1902 Washington St.
