The pilot house that has been a town focal point since the mid-1970s is once again taking its place near the Missouri River bridge.
A crew from Mike Grotewiel Construction is reconstructing the pilot house across West First Street from its original location. The landmark was taken down in 2005 to make way for the new Christopher “Kit” Bond bridge over the Missouri River.
Historic Hermann, Inc. is spearheading the project, and is having the pilot house reconstructed with the financial assistance of other local civic organizations and private donors.
The former Hermann River Memorial was erected in 1976 as a Bicentennial Memorial sponsored by Historic Hermann.
