Hermann girls capture title at South Callaway, defeat New Haven in finals

After facing Harrisburg in the championship game the previous four years, Hermann’s girls turned back conference foe New Haven to win the title of the South Callaway basketball tournament last Saturday, 41-26.
It was the Lady Bearcats’ fourth South Callaway title in five years.
Karinne Lane, who was named the tournament MVP, hit a driving layup that gave Hermann its first 10-point lead after the two teams had been in a tight battle the first half.
Lane finished with 14 points and five assists, while Jamie Gleeson scored 12 points, had seven rebounds and blocked two shots.
As the two teams played fairly even in the first 16 minutes, Gleeson controlled the backboards, limiting the Shamrocks to few second shots.
