The 34th annual Hermann boys basketball tournament and 13th girls tournament tips off next week, with girls’ games taking the spotlight on Monday.
Like always, the tournament will be played in at the high school and middle school gyms.
Last year, Hermann’s girls and boys won the tournament. The Bearcats slipped by St. James, and the Lady Bearcats defeated Owensville in the championship game. It was the first time in 11 years the Bearcats were champs of their own tournament.
The Hermann girls, who have won two tournaments this year, are the No. 1 seed and will play Montgomery County at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, at the high school. St. Clair, the No. 4 seed, will play fifth seeded Owensville at 7:30 next Monday at the high school.
At the middle school, No. 2 seed New Haven and No. 7 Wright City square off at 6 p.m. at the Hermann Middle School. The 7:30 game at the middle school matches No. 3 Chamois and No. 6 Warrenton.
The girls semifinals will be played on Wednesday, Jan. 23, and the championship game is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25. The consolation game will be at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, and the third place game is set for 6 p.m.
The seventh place game in the girls tournament will be played at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.
The Hermann boys were seeded third in the tournament and will play No. 6 Chamois at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, in a first round game at the middle school.
Top-seeded St. James will play its first round game at the high school on Jan. 22 against Wright City. That game will start at 6 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., No. 4 Warrenton and No. 5 Montgomery County will meet at the high school gymnasium.
New Haven was given the No. 2 seed and plays No. 7 Owensville at 6 p.m. at the middle school.
Semifinal games in the boys tournament are set for Thursday, Jan. 24.
The boys’ championship game will be played at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26. The third place game is set for 6 p.m., and the consolation game will be played at 4:30 p.m. There will be a seventh-place boys game at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 26.
