Hermann Fire Department calls slightly up in 2012

Calls to the Hermann Fire Department were up slightly in 2012. The fire department received 114 calls in 2012 compared to 111 calls in 2011.
There 29 fire calls, one of which  was a structure fire in the rural area. There were five vehicle fires of which one was in the city and four in the rural area. In addition to structure and vehicle fires there were 16 grass and brush fires. Four were in the city and 12 in rural Hermann. There was one flue fire in rural Hermann. There were three calls in the city and three in the rural.
There were 50 rescue calls. Vehicle calls consisted of nine in the city and 31 in the rural area. Other rescue calls were four in the city and six in the rural area.
