Hermann’s girls outscored Chamois 23-6 in the third quarter and went on to register a 59-39 win over the Lady Pirates in a non-conference basketball game at Hermann last Tuesday.
The Lady Bearcats trailed by seven points midway through the second quarter when junior Karinne Lane hit consecutive 3-pointers to pull her team out of a sleep. That spurred the offense, and Hermann ended up with a 24-20 halftime lead.
Junior Jamie Gleeson led the Lady Bearcats’ offense in the third quarter, scoring 11 of her 17 points. Tesla Ruediger hit a pair of baskets and two free throws in that 8-minute period, while Kali Stiers and Kirsten Leimkuehler each nailed a 3-pointer.
Ruediger, a 5-3 sophomore, scored 11 of her 13 points in the second half.
Hermann had one of its best nights at the foul line, where they knocked down 14 of 19 shots.
Lane led the Lady Bearcats with 18 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals. Gleeson, in addition to her 17 points, pulled down seven rebounds.

Miranda Brandt, 5-11 Chamois senior, led all scorers with 19 points while Paige Nolte added 12.
The junior varsity contest was a two-quarter affair, with Hermann holding a 28-11 advantage. It was played before the girls’ varsity game, which was followed by the boys’ varsity.
