When I look at a photograph on my wall of Stan Musial in those baggy, wool uniforms that baseball players wore back in the old days, it brings back childhood memories. It conjures up thoughts of baseball cards; games we listened to on the radio; and the thrill of going to old Sportsman’s Park to watch him walk up to the plate and take that famous stance.
Now those old photos of “Stan the Man” will be all that we have of the Hall of Fame baseball player. The St. Louis Cardinals great passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, at the age of 92.
How special it was to see him riding around in a golf cart in the new Busch Stadium when the 2006 World Champion Cardinals were celebrated after a parade through downtown St. Louis.
