Hunter education classes at Hermann VFW home on Feb. 8-9

The Missouri Department of Conservation will sponsor a Hunter Education Course in Hermann on Feb. 8 and 9 at the VFW Home in Hermann on Highway 100.
The class on Friday, Feb. 8, will beĀ  from 6-9 p.m., and the Saturday, Feb. 9 class is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Students must attend both days to become certified.
Included in the training will be gun safety, information about firearms and ammunition, the role of the hunter and hunting in wildlife management and conservation, responsibilities of the outdoorsman, outdoor ethics and hunter preparedness.
Those successfully completing the course will receive a Hunter Education Certification Card from the Department of Conservation. Such certification is mandatory before a hunter can purchase a hunting permit in many states. Certification is limited to students 11 years of age or older.
Class size is limited to 40 students. Pre-registration is required. You must preregister online at www.register-ed.com/programs/missouri.
Class will be canceled if less than 10 students are pre-registered. All students are required to bring sharpened pencils and their social security numbers. Students under the age of 13 should bring a copy of their birth certificate to verify age.
