Candidate filing closed last Tuesday for Hermann city council, school board and ambulance district board.
No school board election will be necessary in the Gasconade County R-1 School District since just two candidates filed for the two open seats. Board member Mike Pratte re-filed, and Dustin Kallmeyer will join the board as a new member in April. School board member Todd Witthaus did not file for another term.
There are three candidates in the race for mayor, which will be for one year to fill out the term of Larry Miskel, who resigned after he was elected to the Gasconade County Commission.
Ronald Van Booven, Ward 1 alderman, filed on the first day. Dolores Grannemann, who retired the end of December after working in the city office for 38 years, filed for mayor on Jan. 9, and Richard Lauer filed for mayor on Jan. 10.
Mrs. Grannemann served as the city clerk for 37 years.
Bruce Cox, Ward 1, and Brian Chorley, Ward 2, re-filed for the Hermann Board of Aldermen and have no opposition.
Robert C. Howell filed for Ward 1 alderman but withdrew from the race last Tuesday morning.
Dan Wilson, a former alderman from Ward 2, filed for mayor on Jan. 8, but withdrew from the race two days later.
Two members of the Hermann Ambulance District whose terms expired in April were the only two who filed, so no election will be held in April.
Filing for the ambulance board were Marilyn Koenig and Otto Mayer.
