Linda Lampkin, who as Hermann’s volleyball coach for the past 33 years who has compiled records that are unmatched in state archives, was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Sunday evening in Springfield.
She was among 15 individuals and two sports teams honored at the enshrinement ceremony for the 2013 class of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame at the University Plaza Convention Center.
“I have a lot of people to thank for allowing me to coach volleyball, a game I love,” said Mrs. Lampkin, whose 11 state championships in 33 years is unprecedented. “You don’t win championships without good players, good assistant coaches and support from your school district, and I’ve had all of that.”
Lampkin’s comments were made before a packed house. A near-record 1,650 tickets were sold, said Missouri Sports Hall of Fame director Jerald Andrews.
