The third season of cemetery restoration fundraising in Hermann kicks off Friday, March 15, at the Hermann Hill Banquet Center. The Brush & Palette Club, which started Hermann City Cemetery restoration work in 2011, is sponsoring the event.
A social hour and silent auction at 5:30 p.m. will open the fundraiser. Dinner and a program, “If Stones Could Speak”, will follow at 6:30.

The goal of the March 15 event is to raise at least $10,000. A second fundraiser is scheduled for August 18 in the Upper City Park. Approximately $31,000 was raised during 2011 and $32,000 in 2012, resulting in restoration of approximately 260 grave sites.
Everyone is encouraged to visit the cemetery to see the work completed during the last two years in the easternmost sections of the cemetery, known as Sections C and D.
The family of Charles Eitzen, along with friends in Hermann, in a project separate from the general cemetery restoration, restored the Eitzen crypt in Section C during 2012.
Reservations for the event are $50 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. A $250 sponsorship includes four tickets and program recognition. A $500 sponsorship includes eight tickets and program recognition.
Persons who are unable to attend the event are encouraged to simply make a contribution.
Community support of this project, which clearly reflects the community’s respect for its heritage and honors those who walked the streets of Hermann in years gone by, who  conducted its business, who worshipped in its churches and who experienced the joys and sorrows of human life, has been gratifying  and is greatly appreciated by The Brush & Palette Club.
For reservations or to make a contribution, send payment to The Brush & Palette Club, P.O. Box 145, Hermann, MO 65041. The deadline for reservations is March 8. For questions, call 486-5544 or 486-2633.
The Brush & Palette Club is a 501(c)(3) organization so contributions to the project are tax-deductible.
