U.S. Veteran Donald J. Wharton, 82, resident of Hermann for the past four years, and long-time of Wentzville, passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Frene Valley Health Center in Hermann.
Mr. Wharton was born in the Wichita area of Kansas, June 18, 1930, a son of Anna E. (Worden) Wharton and James J. Wharton. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, and worked as a tool and die engineer for McDonnell-Douglas and Boeing Aircraft companies until his retirement.
He was the husband of Susie Wharton, who survives him, and the father to his surviving children Rhiannon, Roy and Kent Wharton, and daughter-in-law Michelle Eslinger-Wharton. One son, Earl J. Wharton, preceded him in death.
Donald’s grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn of Illinois, Sunshine of Oklahoma, Lake, Forest and Cloud of Warrenton, Mo., and James and Sarah of Wentzville. He has four great-grandsons Zachary, Nolyn, Logan and Dalton of Illinois.
His surviving brothers and sisters are Milton D. Wharton of Kansas Vernon Wharton of Florida, Merlin Wharton of Missouri, Delbert Wharton of Kansas, Raymond Wharton of Arkansas, Valeta Darlene Scott of Kansas, and Valeria DeAnn Learned of Colorado. He is preceded in death by his elder sister Druzilla C. Beaver of Kansas.
The Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at the College United Methodist Church in Warrenton, Mo.

Anthony “Tony” Masur, 54, of Hermann, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Boone Hospital in Columbia.
Mr. Masur was born in Sidney, Neb., on January 23, 1959, a son of the late Donald and Jacqueline (Cochran) Masur.
He was the husband of Kathy (Bossman) Masur. They were married November 22, 1975 at Montgomery City. Kathy survives in Hermann.
Tony is also survived by two daughters, Jeannine Eldringhoff and Melanie Masur, both of Hermann; two sisters, Lisa Miller and husband, Ron, of Hermann and Linda Landolt and husband, Perry, of Hermann; and by three granddaughters, Chelsea Jones and Madelyn and Emily Eldringhoff.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Masur.
Tony was a member of St. George Church, Hermann. He was the meat manager and meat cutter for Loutre Market, Hermann.
He loved to watch football and was a big Steelers fan.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 4-8 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann.
Funeral services will be held at St. George Church in Hermann at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, with Father Bill Debo officiating.
