They were happy Valentine’s Days

Thursday is Valentine’s Day, and in a conversation I had with my daughter this past weekend we reminisced about the parties we had at school on that day.
She talked about how they used to put their heads on their desks, and covered their eyes while a classmate passed out their Valentine’s cards. Then you would get your turn. I told her we did the same thing when I was in school. I guess they hadn’t changed that tradition, although I don’t think it’s too commonplace anymore. You would try to guess where the cards came from.
The night before Feb. 14, we would sit at home and spend hours flipping through an assortment of Valentines, agonizing over which message to send to our classmates.
