In a key Four Rivers Conference basketball game Monday night, the Hermann girls downed Pacific, 60-52, on their home court to maintain a share of first place in the league.
The Lady Bearcats, Sullivan and Union all had one loss in the conference going into Monday night’s league play. Hermann and Union will meet Thursday night in the final regular season game at Union.
Pacific, which had been ranked No. 7 in Class 4, took a 26-20 lead midway through the second quarter, but Hermann came back to knot it at 31-31 just before the halftime break.
The Lady Bearcats, 20-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference, toughened their defense in the second half and started finishing shots inside, something they weren’t able to do in the first two quarters.
Hermann built an 11-point lead early in the fourth quarter but missed several free throws, allowing Pacific to stay within striking distance. The Lady Bearcats’ Kali Stiers did hit two foul shots in the final minute to help seal the win.
