The Hermann Bearcats ended their season on a high note, defeating Union last Friday, 51-47, in a Four Rivers Conference basketball game on the Wildcats’ floor.
The Bearcats had to hold off the Wildcats in the closing minutes after taking a nine-point lead (42-33) into the final quarter.
After being picked to finish seventh in the conference, the Bearcats earn the fifth-place spot in the standings. They finished 3-4 in the FRC and are now 13-12 overall in Tim Spiers’ first season as Hermann’s head coach.
Union took a 13-12 lead at the quarter before the Bearcats drained a barrage of 3-pointers to grab a 31-24 halftime lead.
Collin Hart, Craig Winkelmann and Matt Hug scored all 19 of the Bearcats’ second quarter points.
