Hermann’s girls will play North Callaway in the Class 3 District 6 championship basketball game on Saturday at 4 p.m., at  North Callaway High School. The game will be played in Kingdom City.
The game was originally scheduled for Friday night, but because the boys’ semifinal games were postponed on Thursday and moved to Friday night, the girls’ title game was pushed to Saturday afternoon. The boys district championship game will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The Lady Bearcats are the No. 1 seed and reached the championship game by defeating South Callaway, 64-26, in the semifinals on Wednesday night. North Callaway defeated O’Fallon Christian in the other semifinal game.
North Callaway (17-9) handed the Hermann Girls (22-4) one of their defeats earlier this season at Kingdom City.
In last Wednesday’s semifinals, the game was decided in the middle two quarters when Hermann outscored South Callaway 16-0 in the second quarter and 23-3 in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was played with a running clock, and Coach Todd Anderson played his reserves the entire quarter.
Kirsten Leimkuehler led the Lady Bearcats with 16 points. She made four 3-pointers out of five attempts.
Jamie Gleeson added 13 points and Karinne Lane chipped in 8. Lane also had nine rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
