A series of three straight trips down the floor late in the game led to the fall of Hermann’s girls in the Class 3 sectional basketball game at Francis Howell Central High School last Wednesday night.
It was in that stretch when North Tech’s Khalia Miller, a 5-5 guard, hit three consecutive 3-point baskets, lifting the Golden Eagles to a 65-62 win over the state-ranked Lady Bearcats.
Hermann, on several occasions, was so close to running away with this one, but the Lady Bearcats couldn’t close the deal, mainly because they committed 25 turnovers.
They appeared to have the momentum when they led 60-55 with 1:51 left in the fourth quarter, after Karinne Lane hit both ends of a double bonus. Then Miller took things into her own hands, and the 40-percent 3-point shooter was on target for those three crucial baskets that won the game for her team.
