The Gasconade County R-1 School District will honor volleyball coach Linda Lampkin in ceremonies on Monday, Oct. 7, at Hermann High School.
The program will follow the Hermann varsity volleyball match against Montgomery County.
Mrs. Lampkin, who is in her 34th season as head volleyball coach at Hermann High School, will be recognized for her 800th win and her induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame last winter.
Lampkin notched her 800th win on Tuesday night in the 58th annual Hermann Volleyball Tournament. She has been in the volleyball program at Hermann for 35 years, and in that time has built an impeccable record.
She retired from her teaching and athletic director positions several years ago, but continues as Hermann’s head volleyball coach.
Her coaching career started in 1979 when she became the assistant volleyball coach at Hermann High School her first year out of Southwest Missouri State University. She is a 1975 graduate of Hermann High School.
As head coach, her teams have won 28 district championships, 17 Four Rivers Conference titles and have made 20 final four appearances. She has won 11 state championships, finished second four times and won five third place trophies at state.
Dozens of her players have gone on to play college volleyball, and dozens have earned all-state honors.
Lampkin has been named Class 2 Coach of the Year by the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association 10 times, and in 2009 she was named National Coach of the Year, Midwest Section, by the National High School Federation.
She retired from the R-1 school district in 2009 after serving the district for 32 years. She taught health, physical education and weightlifting for 18 years before moving into administration.
