Borgia tops Lady Bearcats to claim Hermann tournament title

Hermann and St. Francis Borgia both went into the championship match last Thursday night, having won all their games (8-0) in the 58th annual Hermann Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
But the Lady Knights, who own more Hermann tourney titles than any other school, added another first place trophy to its collection with a 25-17, 25-14 win over the Lady Bearcats. The win avenged Hermann’s triumph over the Lady Knights in last year’s championship.
It didn’t help the Lady Bearcats when starting setter Kali Stiers went down early with an injury in the first game with Borgia leading 2-1. She left the game but returned.
“It kinda left our team in a bit of confusion; out of sync,” said Hermann Coach Linda Lampkin, who got her 800th career win in pool play last Tuesday night. “You never want to lose your setter.”
