Hermann runners win medals at St. James Invitational meet

Karinne Lane and Grant Uthlaut continued their hot pace at the St. James Invitational last Wednesday, with Lane winning her fourth race of the season.
Lane was meet medalist with a time of 20:13, finishing 21 seconds ahead of No. 2 Sarah Usher of Steelville. Hermann’s girls were second in the team standings and the boys’ were third.
Julie Anderson and Heather Hingst of the Lady Bearcats were 19th and 20th and also won medals. Also running for the Hermann varsity were Mallorie Leavy, Donnita Johnson and Michaela Hubbard.
Uthlaut and Vienna’s Chandler Harker were locked in a dual once again, with Harker taking medalist honors and Uthlaut finishing second. Uthlaut’s time of 17:16 was 9 seconds off the winner’s pace.
Andrew Riddell and Trevor Hartman also medaled for Hermann as they finished 17th and 18th, respectively. Riddell’s time was 19:05 and Hartman’s was 19:12. Nathan Hasza was 21st while Isaac Brooks placed 38th.
Will Borgerding and Adam Gleeson also ran in the varsity meet for Hermann.
In the junior varsity boys’ race, Cullen Horstmann of Hermann placed sixth; Avery Reidhead was seventh; Grant Raterman was 14th; and Dalton Gillig 21st.
In the middle school boys race, Casey Gleeson of Hermann placed 22nd while Colton and Emmett Scheible were 29th and 30th, respectively.
Haley Hingst, Avery Sherrow and Payton Schafer competed for the Hermann middle school girls. There was a clock malfunction in that race so no official times were recorded.
