Lane takes first in Hermann Invitational; Uthlaut second in boys’ race

Hermann senior Karinne Lane led from start to finish to claim medalist honors in the annual Hermann Invitational Cross Country meet last Tuesday at Loutre Shore Country Club.
Lane finished the 5,000-meter course in 21:02.76 while teammate Kaitlyn Peacock, a junior, placed fourth in 22:38.81.
The Lady Bearcats also received a strong performance from freshman Julie Anderson, who took a medal with her 20th place finish, and a time of 24:24.21.
The Hermann girls placed second as a team, with Pacific winning the title. Pacific totaled 48 points, while Hermann had 97. Union was third at 104, one point ahead of New Haven, and Owensville came in fifth with 107.
The other Hermann girls who competed in the varsity race were Heather Hingst, Mallorie Leavy, Donnita Johnson and Michaela Hubbard.
Grant Uthlaut, Hermann sophomore, again had to battle New Haven senior Seth Schenck, who won medalist honors. Uthlaut finished second with a time of 17:41.23.
