Riding a weekend high

I couldn’t resist writing about Missouri’s huge win at Georgia this past Saturday. It was a fabulous weekend for Bearcats, Tigers and Cardinal Nation, and let’s not forget the Blues.
But the Missouri football program gained some respect against the nationally-ranked Bulldogs. It was no doubt the biggest win for the Tigers in their short time in the SEC.
Mizzou’s win goes to show you that the Tigers are not as far from competing in its new league, as many thought just over a year ago when they announced joining an affiliation with arguably the top college football conference in the land.
If you remember about 20 months ago, they writing about the hard times Missouri’s football program was about to endure, when they left the Big 12 for the likes of Alabama, LSU, Georgia and . . . well, you know what I’m getting at.
Sure, Georgia was an injury-laden team against Missouri, but remember last year in Columbia against the Bulldogs, the Tigers were playing with a banged-up James Franklin, who missed the last 10:35 of Saturday’s game in Athens, Ga.
Saturday’s 41-26 upset win over No. 6 Georgia has lots of folks in the SEC talking about the Tigers. One scribe even has Mizzou playing in the SEC championship game in Atlanta in December.
