Senior Karinne Lane stole an in-bounds pass with 3.7 seconds left on the clock, and then drained a desperation 3-pointer at the final buzzer to give Hermann’s girls a 59-56 basketball win over North Callaway on Thursday night at Hermann.
The win for the undefeated Lady Bearcats was their eighth of the season.
Hermann lost the ball out of bounds with 3.7 seconds left on the clock and the Thunderbirds called a timeout. When play resumed, they were trying to inbounds the ball under Hermann’s basket when a pass that went nearly to mid-court was picked off by Lane, who hit the winning basket from 30 feet out. She finished with 15 points.
North Callaway took a 45-41 lead into the fourth quarter after outscoring Hermann 19-15 in the third period.
Jamie Gleeson, Hermann’s senior post player, led all scorers with 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
