Jacob Rudkin hit a basket with :01 on the clock to give third-seeded Harrisburg a 53-52 win over Hermann on Monday night in the South Callaway boys basketball tournament at Mokane. The Bearcats are seeded sixth in the tourney.
The game was back-and-forth. The score was tied 14-14 at the quarter, and the Bulldogs held a one-point lead, 28-27, at the half.
Hermann took a 40-39 lead into the final quarter, but couldn’t hang on and suffered its fourth loss in the last five games.
Craig Winkelmann finished with a double-double for the Bearcats, scoring a game-high 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He also had five assists. Collin Hart tossed in 15 points and Matt Hug had 12 for Hermann.
Josh Schannuth pulled down seven rebounds for the Bearcats
The Bearcats will play New Bloomfield at 7:30 Wednesday night at the South Callaway Middle School gym. New Bloomfield lost to New Haven on Monday in a first-round game.
In other first round games on Monday, North Callaway, the No. 5 seed, defeated No. 4 South Callaway, 51-41, and top-seeded Montgomery County Wildcats ripped the No. 8 Russellville Indians 95-39.
