Hermann basketball tourney starts TONIGHT

Hermann’s girls, undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 3, are seeded first. They will play No. 8 seed Wright City at 6 p.m. at the high school, Monday, Jan. 27. This is the 14th year for the girls tourney
First round girls games will be played Monday, Jan. 27, and the boys have the courts for their first round games on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
Owensville’s girls are seeded No. 2, followed by New Haven, Chamois, St. Clair, Warrenton, Montgomery County and Wright City.
The other first-round girls’ game at the high school on Jan. 27 matches Chamois and St. Clair at 7:30 p.m.
At the middle school gym, Owensville’s girls play Montgomery County at 6 p.m., followed by the New Haven-Warrenton girls game at 7:30.
Montgomery County’s boys, fresh off winning the championship at South Callaway this past Saturday night, are seeded No. 1 in the 35th annual Hermann boys’ tournament.
The Wildcats will play 8th-seeded Chamois at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, in a first-round game at the high school gym.
There will be three other first round boys’ games on Tuesday. Hermann, the No. 4 seed, plays No. 5 Warrenton at 7:30 at the high school. At the middle school, No. 2 St. James plays No. 7 Owensville at 6 p.m., followed by New Haven (No. 3) against Wright City (No. 6) at 7:30.
Semifinal games in the girls’ tournament are scheduled for Wednesday, and the boys’ semifinals will be played on Thursday.
The championship, third place and consolation games in the girls’ tourney will be played on Friday, Jan. 31. The seventh place game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m.
The boys’ championship, third place, consolation and seventh place games will be on Saturday, Feb. 1, with the championship game at 7:30, and the third place game at 5:30 p.m.
Between the third place and championship games on Saturday, there will be a ceremony that will commemorate the 100th anniversary of basketball at Hermann High School. Players and coaches from Hermann and St. George schools will be recognized by decades between those two games.
